Following our week in Annecy, we headed south by coach, via Avignon, to Villefranche Sur Mer, an historic town between Nice and Monaco on the Côte d’Azur

Our Hotel balcony was a hard place to leave.
A quiet little square slowly transformed, by workmen and passing tour groups, to a place of confused chaos, but we pressed on with confidence and determination.

My husband and I spend two weeks in Villefranche every year. It is without a doubt the most beautiful village in the south of France although we love Nice and Antibes. We just left a few weeks ago and your pictures make me homesick.
I love little lambikins – the butcher shop “mascot”. How cute is that! Much better than pigs heads with lemons in the mouth and parsley in the ears.
