Like everything else in Spain, the graffiti is wild, exciting and in your face, so in the tradition of Picasso, Goya and El Grecco here are some fine examples of urban cave painting from the back streets of Barcelona, Granada and Toledo.

That’s all great stuff, isn’t it John? I love how the Europeans (and apparently the South American countries as well from what I’ve seen in my daughter’s travel photos) tolerate and sometimes encourage Street Art to brighten up a boring and somewhat depressing space. There’s a whole wall devoted to just John Lennon in Prague! Love it! š
Melbourne is the only place over here where I can go and see some decent graffiti and it is an acceptable art form in the city. Love the colors and diversity of this Spanish graffiti. Thank you!
Some superb stuff John. What always surprises me is that other street artists, some less talented than others, seem to have little or no respect for the work of others and scrawl their names or inferior work over something that is worthy of preserving.. Even Banksy has his work defaced, sometimes within a few hours of completion.
Personally I am very impressed by the skill and the techniques employed and the almost magical way some of these incredible works of art appear overnight. One rarely has the pleasure of seeing these secretive works being created.
Good photos. Normally in Spain are respected the good art expression but isn’t forever, because there other “task force” absolutely friends of destruction of it.

Agreed, John, wild exciting and in your face, The art also echoes flamenco both in song and dance – wild, passionate and visceral. I live near Baza (1 1/2 hours drive NE of Granada) and graffiti art here is so diverse and encouraged, living side by side comfortably with old Spain – delicious and so inspiring.
